Choosing a pillow is the guarantee for a quality night’s sleep. In this article you will learn what are the pillow sizes and get some useful tips on how to choose a quality product. For a good night's rest and a good and energetic morning you need the right pillow for sleep. It's no secret that a good choice directly depends on the size and filling of the product and is selected for each person individually.
The choice of the pillow size depends not only on the size of your bed. The weight, height and preferences of who will sleep on it should be taken into account. The position of the spine and the blood supply to the human brain during the rest depends on the correct choice of the size of the sleeping equipment. In order to choose the optimal one, pay attention to the width of your bed and ease of use. Choosing the right pillow should not be difficult. Just keep a few things in mind and you will be sure to choose the right size every time.
There are fewer queen – size or full – size bed options and there are hundreds of pillow combinations so don't hold back if you find something else you like. Before you go to search for the perfect pillow to sleep, give yourself an answer to one question: “What do you need a pillow for?” The main function of it is to relieve the load on the neck during sleep. Properly selected pillow supports the head and cervical spine so that the muscles relax and rest. There are two standard pillow sizes: rectangular and square. Manufacturers of pillowcases focus on them so buying a pillow and picking up a pillowcase separately will not be difficult. The choice of pillow size depends on your habit and bed size and will not particularly affect the sleeping quality.
Confused about which pillow is right for your bed? No need to lose sleep over it. When creating your dream bed it's important to know if you need a Standard, Queen or King sized pillow. We've created an easy guide for you designed to take the guesswork out of choosing the only sleeping pillow for your bed and finding the right sized linens.
To begin, you should measure your pillow and determine the length of its sides carefully . For standard ones there will be no problems with the selection as a rule because most manufacturers produce standard pillowcases in a huge range. If possible it would be good to measure the pillowcase itself before buying in order to avoid inconsistency of its size with the specified standard. It should also be clarified whether the fabric shrinks after washing. If strong shrinkage is possible it is better to buy a pillowcase more or to refuse purchase. The volume of the pillow can also play an important role: as a rule most pillowcases are sewn on products of medium thickness, respectively, if it is more lush or conversely excessively flat the standard sizes will not suit you. The search for a non – standard size will take more time and effort, however, do not despair because many bedding manufacturers sew them to order in any form and quantity.
When sewing yourself to correctly calculate the size of the pillowcase on the pillow you should be guided by the characteristics of the fabric and its tendency to shrink and also take into account the thickness of it.
How to choose the pillow size? For those who choose a sleeping position on the side preference should be given to products whose width corresponds to the width of the shoulders. This figure can be determined using a ruler or centimeter used by the seamstresses. If you choose to rest in a position on your stomach or back then the height of the pillow should not be greater than the products for those who like to sleep on their side. It is important to remember that pillows also differ in height for men and women.
Which pillow is better to choose, hard or soft? Depending on which position you prefer during the rest. The stiffness of the pillow can be:
Maximum – ideal for those who suffer from spinal diseases or those who choose a posture for rest on the side as it fixes the position of the head and neck perfectly.
Medium – for those who have a rest while sleeping on their backs.
Soft – for those who sleep on their stomachs.
Standard pillows are the smallest of our sleeping pillows, measuring 20" x 26". They are most often associated with single or double beds and two of them next to each other fit on a double bed perfectly.
When choosing the pillowcases do not worry if their standard size is nowhere to be found. Many pillowcases have general standard / size queen markings on the market and are designed to accommodate both options. You will have a slightly flexible overhang along the opening of the pillow but the case itself should fit perfectly.
Queen pillows are slightly longer than standard pillows, the typical size is 20" x 30". They are made in such a way that they are the ideal width for a double bed standing next to each other. However, pillows are a very personal preference and many of our customers prefer an extra length of the royal pillow with two beds.
You would also choose a standard size / queen size and they will fit just as well with only a little less overhang along the edge.
Royal pillows are too long to measure 20" x 36" and two of them are the ideal width for a standard king-size bed next to each other. That said, many clients find being overweight and bulky and prefer to sleep with a smaller king pillow on their king beds. If so, we recommend using the royal pillows for decorative purposes and clean the queen's pillows to the back of the bed during the day.
King pillows are the perfect width to cover a single bed actually! Try using a single king pillow on your double bed for decorative purposes or provide extra support along with your standard pillows.
