Baffle Box Duvets

Choosing the right duvet can ensure a comfortable night's rest. A person's sensations during sleep depend on the qualitative composition of bedding and the method of sewing. Natural materials and modern technologies for making duvets maintain the correct microclimate in bed and protect against temperature extremes.

What is a baffle box duvet?

A baffle box duvet is a sleeping product made up of cells (called "cassettes"), each of which contains a filler. Sewing in this way allows you to keep the airiness and softness of the product. The filler remains in the closed space of the cassette, does not collect into lumps, and does not move within the space.

Cassette models have a more complex design compared to other types of duvets, however, this sewing technology provides them with lightness and durability.

The main types of fillers for baffle box construction duvets

Cassette duvets are filled with natural and synthetic materials. Goose and camel down require special care, they guarantee volume and elasticity. Synthetic ones are easy to wash, but after a few years, they lose their shape.

Down and feather

Baffle box down duvets are in high demand. Down provides lightness, feathers - elasticity. When choosing a product, they are guided by the ratio of feathers and down. The standard indicates the proportions of down and feathers 90/10, 60/40, 50/50, or 30/70.

Goose down

Feathers of live birds older than 6 months are used as raw materials. The quality is influenced by the breed and range of geese. The colder the climate, the better the raw materials. The species that lives in Canada is considered valuable. Down of the Hungarian, Italian, and North German breeds is often used. A downy product needs special care, then it will last a long time. Periodically it is whipped and 1 time in 3 months must be ventilated in the air.

Camel wool

The undercoat differs from the wool in its greater softness. Before use, it goes to sorting. Camel down is suitable for children's models. A duvet with such a filler retains heat in winter but is inferior to bird raw materials in terms of thermal insulation. The products are characterized by hygroscopicity, durability, and lightness. They repel static electricity and do not cause an allergic reaction. Camel down bedding has medicinal properties. They dilate blood vessels, increase blood circulation, and normalize metabolism.

Holofiber

Polyester synthetic fiber has a high elasticity due to the fibers, which are twisted in the form of a spring. The sinuous structure allows you to keep warm and keep cold air out. Due to the removal of excess moisture, it is suitable for those who often sweat during sleep. Additional benefits are hypoallergenic and easy to clean.

Pros and cons of baffle box duvets

Sleep accessories with cassette structure have several advantages:

  • all cells have the same amount of filler, which allows it to be evenly distributed over the entire area of the product;

  • the fabric is stitched with a reinforced thread to ensure durability and insulation of the padding;

  • the filler does not get lost and does not gather in lumps due to the design features;

  • the structure of the canvas gives the product durability;

  • increased content of down in the cells increases the thermal insulation properties of the duvet;

  • products can be cleaned in a regular washing machine.

There are practically no drawbacks, except for the high price for a natural product, however, the long service life justifies the costs.
